Requirements for Housing Benefit
To receive housing benefit, students must not be entitled to BAföG, unless they do not live with their parents and BAföG is only paid as a loan.
Amount of Housing Benefit
The amount of housing benefit depends on the number of household members, income, and rent. There are no fixed amounts, as the housing benefit is calculated individually.
Application Process
The application for housing benefit must be submitted to the responsible housing benefit office of the municipality or city. Evidence of income, rental costs, and other relevant documents are required.
Combination with Other Benefits
Housing benefit can be combined with other benefits, but not with BAföG if it is paid to cover living expenses. Side jobs or scholarships may affect the housing benefit.
