Allowance for Single Parents in Vocational Training (Ausbildung)
Single parents in vocational training (Ausbildung) are entitled to an additional allowance on top of the regular vocational training assistance (Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe) to cover costs incurred from caring for a child. This allowance serves to offset the financial burden of raising and caring for a child during their training period.
Requirements for the Allowance
To qualify for the allowance for single parents, the following conditions must be met:
- The trainee must have sole custody or predominant custody rights for the child.
- The child must live in the same household as the trainee.
- The care of the child must not be fully taken over by another person.
Amount of the Allowance
The amount of the allowance depends on the number of children for whom the trainee is responsible. The allowance currently amounts to up to 130 Euros per child per month. This amount is granted in addition to the regular vocational training assistance (Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe).
Documents Required for the Allowance
To apply for the allowance, the following documents must be submitted:
- Birth certificate of the child
- Proof of sole custody (e.g., custody order)
- Confirmation of residence that verifies the shared household with the child
Childcare Costs
In addition to the allowance for single parents in vocational training (Ausbildung), the actual costs of childcare can also be partially covered if they can be substantiated. This includes expenses for daycare centers, childminders, or other care options.
Support During a Break in Vocational Training (Ausbildung)
If the training (Ausbildung) needs to be temporarily interrupted due to caregiving obligations, the vocational training assistance (Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe) can continue to be paid under certain conditions. A prerequisite is that the interruption is reported in a timely manner and the training (Ausbildung) is resumed later.
Important Notes
Single parents in vocational training (Ausbildung) should submit their application for vocational training assistance (Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe) early and provide all necessary documents in full. It is advisable to consult with the employment agency to check all possible supports and ensure timely payment of benefits.
