Allowances in the Calculation of Funding for Vocational Training Assistance (Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe) for Financing Vocational Training (Ausbildung) in Germany 2025

The housing allowance for Vocational Training Assistance (Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe) to finance Vocational Training (Ausbildung) is granted if the trainee lives outside of the parents' home during their training. It covers the costs of rent and additional expenses.

Travel expenses are taken into account in Vocational Training Assistance (BAB) to finance Vocational Training (Ausbildung) when the trainee has to regularly commute between home and training company or vocational school. The flat rate is based on the distance.

Additional supplements for childcare are granted within the framework of Vocational Training Assistance (BAB) to finance Vocational Training (Ausbildung), when the apprentice is caring for their own child and thereby incurs additional costs.

In the case of the Vocational Training Allowance (BAB) for financing the Vocational Training (Ausbildung), the income of the trainee, their parents, and, if applicable, their spouse is taken into account. If the income exceeds certain exemption limits, it reduces the amount of the BAB benefit.
