Importance of the Rental Agreement
The rental agreement serves as proof of the actual housing costs that the trainee incurs during their vocational training (Ausbildung). These costs are considered when calculating the Vocational Training Assistance (BAB).
Required Information in the Rental Agreement
The rental agreement must include the following information:
- Name and address of the landlord
- Name of the tenant (trainee)
- Address of the rented apartment
- Amount of monthly rent (base rent and additional costs)
- Start of the rental period
Proof of Rent Payments
In addition to the rental agreement, proof of actual rent payments may be required, such as bank statements or receipts from the landlord. This proof serves to document the regular payment of rent.
Subletting Arrangements
If the trainee has sublet a room, a sublease agreement is required. The rent share must be clearly stated to calculate the eligible costs.
Changes in Rental Agreement
Changes such as a rent increase or a move must be reported to the Employment Agency immediately, as they may affect the entitlement to Vocational Training Assistance (BAB).
Rent in Shared Apartments
In shared apartments (WG), the tenant’s own rent share must be specified in the rental agreement or through a written agreement with the roommates. This share will be considered in the calculation of the BAB.
Important Notes
The rental agreement should be submitted in full and up-to-date with the application to avoid delays in processing. If documents are missing, the Employment Agency will set a deadline for submission.
