Importance of Vocational Training (Ausbildung) Certification
The vocational training (Ausbildung) certificate is a crucial component of the housing benefit application, as it documents the applicant’s training status. Housing benefits are only granted if the applicant is currently in vocational training (Ausbildung) and is not receiving any other priority benefits such as vocational training assistance (BAB) or BAföG.
Types of Vocational Training (Ausbildung) Certification
Proof of vocational training (Ausbildung) can be provided in various forms:
- Current training certificate from the training company
- Signature of the vocational training (Ausbildung) contract
- Written confirmation of the training status by the company
The certificate should include the start date of the training (Ausbildung), the expected duration of the vocational training (Ausbildung), and the training occupation.
Confirmation by the Training Company
In most cases, a written confirmation from the training company is required. This certificate must be issued on the official letterhead of the company and clearly state the applicant’s training status. If there are any changes, such as switching training companies, a new certificate must be submitted.
Supplementary Documents
In addition to the vocational training (Ausbildung) proof, further documents may be required, especially if there are doubts about the training assistance. These documents may include:
- A rejection notice for vocational training assistance (BAB)
- Proof of the training location if it is outside the parental home
Currency of the Vocational Training (Ausbildung) Certificate
The vocational training (Ausbildung) certificate must be up to date and generally should not be older than three months. The housing benefit office may require regular updates of the certificate, especially if the vocational training (Ausbildung) is time-limited.
Submission of Vocational Training (Ausbildung) Certificate
If the vocational training (Ausbildung) certificate is not available at the time of application, the application can still be submitted. However, the missing certificate must be provided within a specified timeframe, as otherwise, the application will be denied.
Special Cases for Dual Vocational Training (Ausbildung)
For dual vocational training (Ausbildung), which includes both practical and theoretical components, a school certificate may also be required. This is especially true if the school-based training makes up a larger portion, and the vocational training (Ausbildung) compensation is low.
Verification by the Housing Benefit Office
The housing benefit office carefully reviews the submitted vocational training (Ausbildung) certificate. It is crucial that the applicant is in recognized vocational training (Ausbildung) during the entire period of receiving housing benefits. In the event of completion or termination of the training (Ausbildung), entitlement to housing benefits generally ceases, and this must be reported immediately.
