Deepening Professional Knowledge
In the third year, the focus is increasingly on deepening specific professional knowledge that is necessary in the respective vocational training (Ausbildung). The trainees learn complex workflows and take on more challenging tasks that prepare them for working life. In many professions, special areas are also covered in the third year, which help the aspiring professionals to set their own priorities and apply their knowledge.
Independent Project Work
An essential part of the final year of vocational training (Ausbildung) is working independently on projects. These projects are often practical and aim to prepare the trainees to act independently and solution-oriented in the working world. The projects promote both technical knowledge as well as the ability to self-organize and solve problems.
Preparation for Practical Exams
The preparation for the final exam plays a central role in the third year. In addition to the theoretical content from vocational school, practical exam parts are specifically practiced in the company. The trainees review important work processes, train exam tasks, and prepare to demonstrate their knowledge and skills before an examination board.
Theoretical Content in Vocational School
In vocational school, theoretical content continues to be taught that complements the practical experiences of the trainees. In addition to professional theory, subjects like economics and social studies are often included in the curriculum. These subjects aim to provide trainees with a better understanding of economic contexts and social responsibility.
Final Examination and Assessment
The training process in the third year ends with the final examination, which consists of a written and a practical part. The exam is administered by the responsible chamber (e.g., IHK or HWK). Passing the exam is a prerequisite for obtaining the vocational qualification and certifies that the trainee possesses all necessary knowledge and skills for the chosen profession.
